Working out with Jennifer was easily one of the best decisions I have ever made. I felt like I had plateaued in my workout routine and couldn’t see the results coming as much as I used to. When I signed up with Jennifer I was super nervous, but it ended up being great! She is patient in teaching new skills, incredibly personal, and listens to your personal goals to help you best achieve them. Working with her I lost 13 pounds and 8% body fat. I would highly recommend her to people just now getting into fitness as well as seasoned gym-goers. Katie Carter
“When I first considered training for a Figure competition, I went right to Jennifer as she had won the first competition she entered. I admired her drive and dedication and I felt she was the one who could help me maximize my potential. Boy, was I right! She did that and much more! Her enthusiasm for training was contagious. I achieved goals I hadn’t imagined. It was such a great experience that I just did another show (with Jennifer’s help, of course) and even placed higher. I consider her my trainer, coach, confidant, and friend.”
If you are looking for a fitness trainer who works one-on-one with clients of all ages, shapes, and interests, look no further than Fit By Jenny. Jennifer Schumm brings years of experience training athletes who wish to get stronger in their sport and with others who simply wish to get in better shape. For example, I work with her to become a better cyclist and strengthen my core. She pushes me hard, but always with good humor and in a supportive manner. Along the way, I also learned about good nutrition and training strategies. I attribute a lot of my success in reaching my riding goals to her. Give her a try. You won’t be sorry…but maybe a little sore afterward! William Brant Roxborough, CO
“It has been a pleasure to know and work with Jennifer at the athletic club where I have held a membership for the past 2 years. When I started working out regularly I was fatigued, out-of-shape and not eating a healthy diet.
During my first session with Jennifer, she took me through a routine that was manageable for my busy schedule as an on-the-go Public Relations Director for a Healthcare Corporation. One of the first recommendations she gave me concerned the importance of a healthful diet, and how this was equal in relevance to the new exercise routine she designed for me. I’ve always been a very active person, but it took me a while to finally decide to practice more healthy eating habits. With Jennifer’s nutritional guidance, personal training program and my mindset to find joy in healthful eating and exercise my transformation to an energetic, fit and healthy person have been exciting and fun. I never feel deprived nutritionally and have conditioned my body to look forward to a cardio and weight program that fits my personal schedule and desired body composition goals.
I continue to work with Jennifer as my needs change to maintain my own optimal quality of life. I would not hesitate to recommend her valuable services to anyone regardless of age, fitness level or weight. She can design a program that will help you reach your goals!”
“Training with Jen after having my first baby put in great shape. She focuses on good form so I was able to work harder than before without aggravating old injuries. She also talked a lot about my diet with me while we worked out. This combination helped me lose several pounds and inches and change my overall shape!”
“I’ve been working out with Jen for more than a year, and I have seen a huge change in my body, as well as my attitude towards weight training.”
“I enjoy training with Jen because she pushes me into doing what really is going to work for me, not just what I like to do, which is usually the easiest.”
“It’s GREAT working out with Jen! She’s encouraging and pushes you just enough to get to that next point in your workout plan. Lifting takes a lot of energy, and Jen brings both the mental and physical side of working out together. Jen really helps synergize the mind and body. She doesn’t give up on you.”
“Jen is an amazing inspiration and an unbelievable motivator whatever your fitness goal may be.”
“I first started sessions with Jen in order to gain strength and prevent injury during my quest to train for my first marathon. My workouts with Jen became a key ingredient to getting my body ready for the difficult goal I had set. I honestly believe that with Jen’s help, I was able to finish the 26.2 miles and recover quickly.”
“Jen pushes you to work hard to reach your goals. You will look and feel better in no time!”
“As an avid exerciser, I thought I was in great shape. My weight was stable, as well as my physiological health. However, I wanted to go to a higher level. As a seven-year member at my gym, I observed many of the trainers. After watching Jennifer’s commitment to her clients, I thought I might like to train with her. Commitment turned into loyalty and a new respect for my body, mind and spirit alike. Not only is Jennifer a fabulous and knowledgeable trainer, but she also tones your body in line with age, agility, and determination. Cheers to Jennifer Schumm and her dedication, not only to her clients but herself as well.”
“Got Jenny? I needed a trainer who would get results. I didn’t mind putting in the effort, because I knew I would get out of my workout whatever effort I put into it. I needed results because I was planning on attending my 20-yr. high school reunion. I hadn’t seen these friends since graduating from high school and I was no longer 18 yrs. old. anymore! I had to get into action. What I like about Jen was that she is so personable and she looks great! I had watched her a few times in the weight room and just by looking at her, you can tell she knows her stuff. She listened to what I wanted and designed a training routine that helped me achieve just that – results!”
“Jen is the best! When it got down to ‘crunch’ time and getting in shape along with losing those few extra pounds was not negotiable, Jen’s diet and exercise program was priceless ~ and it worked! I entered the toughest competition in the BEST shape I’ve ever been in! Thanks, Jen!”
– Mrs. North America-Globe 2005, 3rd Runner-UP to Mrs. Globe
“Thank you for all your advice and enthusiastic support. I hate working out and am not usually very committed to a strict diet plan. When I came to you for help, you really motivated me. The meal plan you recommended was easy to stick to and I surprisingly did not feel like I had been deprived of much at all. The exercise program you recommended for me was easy to follow and one I could really stick to. Thank you for all your words of encouragement and for motivating me to get in shape!”
(Picture not available) “Jennifer Schumm is a highly qualified and experienced strength training expert. She uses progressive, well-planned workouts that are customized for each client. I began working with her eight weeks after delivering my second son, Reed. She helped educate me on how to incorporate strength training and cardio, as well as a nutrition program, so that I could lose my pregnancy weight fast. I have never felt better! Jennifer truly makes every minute in the gym count!”
(Picture not available) “Jen is the best trainer I have ever worked with. I have lost 10 pounds and am working toward losing the last 10 pounds of my “baby weight”. She is helping me reach my fitness goals with all of her diet and exercise expertise. Every workout with Jen is a challenge, she keeps raising the bar. I am lucky to have found her!”
“This is truly a “testimonial” to Jennifer’s abilities from someone who has always been into sports, exercise, and fitness.
My name is Jan Mossel, I’m 55 and have been a member at my gym since it opened in 1987. I started training with Jennifer almost a year ago. At that time I was coming back from knee surgery (ACL reconstruction) I’d had 10 months earlier, so I was out of shape and overweight. I wanted to regain my fitness for the things I like to do: distance road biking, playing ice hockey, rollerblading, golfing, etc. I also was looking for help in taking the fluctuations out of my exercise and eating routines. That is, achieving some consistency over time rather than working out religiously and eating right for 6 months only to let life get in the way and regress to poor eating habits and intermittent workouts for the following 6 months. Since I have been an athlete and worked out all my life, I am self-motivated and can be good at working out on my own. But I was looking for inspiration and wanted to expand my knowledge about nutrition, weights, and fitness.
Jennifer has given me everything I was looking for and much more. Her knowledge of both exercise and nutrition is impressive and she has taught me a great deal about both. Keeping a food journal is tedious and something I had done before, but with her encouragement and guidance, it really became a useful tool to monitor my progress. Due largely to my improved diet I lost the 15 pounds I needed to and reduced my body fat about 7% in just the first few months with Jennifer. But the weight work has been equally eye-opening to me. The intensity of her weight training is the key to its success…very difficult to accomplish during the sessions but extremely effective in producing results. My muscle strength and definition are better than they’ve ever been. And the longer I train with Jennifer the more she surprises me with the variety she introduces to the workouts. She continues to be very encouraging and truly interested in my progress.
In summary, the benefits of working with Jennifer are numerous. She is very knowledgeable about all aspects of nutrition and fitness, dedicated to her career and serious about helping the people she works with. The example she sets with her own workouts, nutrition regimen and appearance is inspirational because she practices what she preaches. So I’m back on the bike and the ice rink and feeling great, thanks to Jennifer. I will always enjoy working out but Jennifer has taught me how to combine nutrition and effective training to make that time more productive and rewarding. She has given me the inspiration and knowledge I was looking for.”
(No picture available) “When I decided that I needed strength training in order to be a stronger triathlete, Jenn was the person I called. We once taught fitness classes at the same gym, and I would often go to her classes to gain inspiration for teaching my own fitness classes. She has always had boundless energy, heart, and dedication. I immediately noticed these same qualities in Jenn when I met with her for personal training. She had more faith in my ability than I did. If I doubted that I could finish a set, she would firmly encourage two more reps, and I was always amazed when I realized that I did have it in me. I left the first session knowing that she genuinely wanted me to be successful, and her program has definitely made me a stronger athlete. She is the best.”
“Month by month I can see my strength improving. This has been made possible by the prodding that Jennifer does week by week keeping me pushing a little harder. My normal inclination is not to workout, my schedule is tough with many hours of traveling and meetings. Some of the proof points are my back does not play up after long flights, I can cope with many more Honey do’s than before.”

“The ‘Women and Weights’ class Jennifer teaches is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. My name is Margarita Kontny, I’m 45 and started this weight program with Jennifer 9 months ago.
I was tired of coming to the gym every weekday for several years and not getting anywhere. I thought that lifting a few weights every other day and walking on the treadmill was all I needed, then came the ” Women and Weights” program. It hasn’t by any means been easy, but Jennifer is a great motivator and very knowledgeable in the weight training and nutritional field. Keeping a food journal has been very beneficial, along with a cardio program and weight training. For as many as 3 days after a workout, I still experience very sore muscles. There are times it hurts to move in bed at night or get out of my car and take a few steps after sitting for a while. Jennifer has taught me to make better choices when it comes to eating and taught me how important it is to include cardio along with weight training. This has changed the overall shape of my body, strength and endurance level.
Weight training is not a piece of cake nor will it ever be. You start with relatively light weights and long rests between sets, then work your way to heavier weights and supersets. I don’t love it while I’m doing it but I feel great when the hour is over and what I love most are the results. Staying with the program is key to getting the results one is after. It’s been worth every minute and penny I’ve put into it. It’s become a way of life for me. No pain, no gain.”
(No picture available) “After years of training on my own and thinking I was fit, I started working out with Jennifer on a regular basis and it wasn’t until then that I realized I was training incorrectly. Having Jennifer push me harder than I would on my own and learning the correct way, I now look and feel better than I have in years. Jennifer is not only knowledgeable in weight training, but in all aspects of fitness and nutrition. Jennifer is awesome!”
(No picture available) “This year, I decided it was time to do something for myself – time to work on improving my health and getting fit, maybe even lose 5 pounds in the process. Jenny was instrumental in helping me achieve my goals. In 4 weeks, I could see muscle definition in my arms and legs. We worked in a group of 3-4 women twice a week for about 6 months. Jenny motivated us to work at a high level, educated us on nutrition, and personalized our workouts to our individual needs. The results were amazing. I wear sleeveless tops now to show off my buff arms and even bought a bikini. It just goes to show you – even at 47 – it’s never too late to get started!”
The ‘Women and Weights’ program was the motivation I needed to get to the gym on a regular basis. Jenny was able to help us achieve our goals while paying attention to our individual needs. She taught us how to use the machines and plan our workouts. The encouragement and support we received from each other made our sessions fun.”
I am writing this letter to express to you how valuable Jen Schumm has been to me as a personal trainer. Over the past 19 years that I have been active in my own physical fitness, I have shunned working with a trainer because I had not been able to find an individual in whom I could give my absolute trust. That changed when I first met with Ms. Schumm.
From the very beginning, she has inspired me in ways I did not realize I could be, especially in terms of proper nutrition and spiritual well-being. Ms. Schumm’s very holistic approach of integrating physical, spiritual, and nutritional needs has taken my personal performance levels to areas I could never have imagined.
She is by far one of the most articulate individuals I have ever met. Going far beyond merely stating what I need to do to accomplish my fitness goals, Ms. Schumm delineates for me the whys and wherefores of how to do so. Her knowledge of resistance training, cardiovascular training, diet preparedness, just to mention a few, is only surpassed by her dedication to me as a client.
I take extreme pleasure in writing this letter because it gives me an opportunity to share with you the vast wealth of knowledge and personal charisma that Ms. Schumm has shared with me. In working with her, I am not working with just my personal trainer, I am doing so with someone in which I can give my full trust and confidence—in short, a friend.
(No picture available) I decided, after watching my daughter do the Danskin Triathlon, that this was something I could do with the proper training. I started working with Jenny in the Fall with core building and strengthing. The most important thing along with our workouts was what Jenny wrote down for us to eat. My husband and I have never really watched that carefully, and now I feel Jenny has us trained to be aware of everything we eat. I started the First-timer training in the Spring, doing swimming, running and biking 4-5 times a week, and finished the Danskin Triathlon with ease on July 16th, 2006. I feel like a new person, having reached that goal as well as having a good work-out routine and a good diet! Thanks, Jenny!
Okay, another set. Okay, another set. Okay, another set. Okay……enough already! Can’t we please stop! If I feel I can’t lift one more weight, all I hear is up….up….up. Why do I put up with this torture? Because it works, that’s why.
My name is Patrick Murray and I have been training at my gym with Jennifer Schumm for the past 5 months. Since we began, I have lost over 40 pounds and decreased my waist 4 inches. There is no numerical seal to express how much better I feel both physically and psychologically. I believe what expresses those feelings best is the fact that I now wear shirts tucked into my pants rather than hanging loosely to hide my stomach. I believe it was that very stomach that motivated me to begin this workout routine.
In my early 20’s I was very thin. Working in construction and routine daily activities was enough to keep me thin and in great shape. I started college at 30 and began expanding both my mind and my midsection. Fourteen years later, after law school and a rather sedentary lifestyle, my belly had gotten so big I could hardly see my feet. At that point, I decided it was time to do something about it.
When I first started training with Jennifer, she made me write down everything I ate. I hated doing this, but as the pounds came off, it got easier. Jennifer encouraged me to do my daily cardio and suggested an alternative way of eating to help rid my bad habits. This new routine of cardio and diet was just the beginning. The weight room was next.
It started with fairly light weights and nice big breaks in between sets. Now we are up to drop sets and jumping from machine to machine with no breaks in between. It gets rather difficult, but the results are worth it. I complain a great deal, but I am beginning to enjoy the workouts. I also see results other than weight loss. After months of encouragement from Jennifer, I recently purchased my first ever tank tops. I had never worn them before because I always considered them to be “muscle” shirts and therefore nothing I ever needed. But now I have lots of muscles and enjoy wearing them, especially when working out.
I don’t think workouts will ever be “fun” for me. However with Jennifer’s motivation and the changes I can see and feel, they have become much more bearable. Who knows what could happen if I continue to pursue this bodybuilding routine. Along with looking better, feeling better, and living longer, I now know I could become governor of California!
Working with Jennifer in ‘Women and Weights’ has been the best money and time I have ever spent!
Jennifer is wonderful. Very knowledgeable, supportive, but challenges us to reach and surpass our weight training and nutritional goals!
As I am in my late fifties, I thought I might be too old to weight train to improve my body. Jennifer and ‘Women and Weights’ proved I was wrong!
I had hip replacement surgery in January of 2004. Three months later I began ‘Women and Weights’ with Jennifer. I have never felt better or stronger thanks to this program and Jennifer!
I want to thank you for all your help. I now have definition!! I always thought I had abs, but now I can see them. In just 11 weeks I gained substantial muscle mass, lost 7 pounds, and went from 12.9% body fat to just 9.2%!!!!!
Wow! I couldn’t have done it without you. Your encouragement and knowledge helped me become what I couldn’t seem to do on my own.
Thank you so much.
I remember the first time I met with Jennifer, I was blown away by her professionalism and dedication to her career, and of course her physique. This is not just a ‘job’ to Jennifer, this is how she has directed and been all her life, she is truly an inspiration to the physical fitness arena.
Jennifer is very knowledgeable in the nutrition area as well as the physical area; to her, they go hand in hand. Jennifer spends quality time with every client discussing your personal goals and your nutrition goals. It isn’t just about ‘lifting weights’… to achieve your personal goals, it is the lifestyle of physical fitness and health that are important to Jennifer and she passes that along in a non-threatening, energetic manner to her clients.
I look forward to training with Jennifer for a long time, she has kept me motivated and works me and pushes me to a point that I would not do myself. I love the way I feel, and I thank Jennifer for that. I am stronger, healthier and in better shape than I was in my 20’s.
Jennifer is truly a dedicated wonderful personal trainer and it shows not just on the outside but, her dedication comes from inside as well. She truly cares about giving each client her undivided attention.
(No picture available) Jennifer Schumm has been my personal trainer for the past 15 months; Ms. Schumm is a pleasant and motivating influence in my physical fitness program. She is professional, disciplined, consistent and knowledgeable not only with respect to training but as well as with nutrition. She has the ability to keep the training sessions interesting and moving at a brisk pace. My strength and endurance have increased demonstrably, aiding in particular, my road biking activities. I would highly recommend Ms. Schumm as a valuable and positive component for a commonsensical training regimen.
(No picture available) I signed up for the “Women and Weights” program a year ago. My goal was to learn how to use the machines and free weights in the weight room. Also, I wanted to learn how to really get results with weight training. I had previously been exercising regularly, but not getting the results I wanted. During the 6 week program with Jennifer, I learned much more than I had expected. She was not only great at teaching me what exercises I needed to do to get the results I wanted, but she also was extremely helpful at teaching me how to eat the right foods to get results. I believed that since I wasn’t overweight, I could eat whatever I wanted. Jennifer helped me learn how to eat much more nutritiously. I immediately felt better with my new “meal plan” and soon after that, I began to actually see the results of combining weight training with a nutritious diet.
Soon after the “Women and Weights” program ended, I decided that I wanted to continue to train with Jennifer. She has been great at keeping me challenged in my workout and has been flexible with my busy schedule. Also, she has been wonderful about finding other people for me to train with who have similar goals as mine. Jennifer continues to motivate and teach me during each training session. It has now been 1 year since I met Jennifer and I feel better now about my fitness level than I ever have.
Initially, I was amazed by Jen’s energy level which in turn was a large motivating factor for me. I also learned that she definitely practices what she preaches. She is a nutritional expert as well as a knowledgeable trainer. My sessions with Jen are never boring as I can see results in my overall shape and increased strength. She challenges me like no other trainer has before and for this I am thankful.
(No picture available) I do feel that I must write to you about the personal training I have been receiving from Jennifer Schumm since January. In short, her services have been exemplary. She is inspiring, extremely knowledgable not only of work out techniques but of the nutritional changes necessary for the optimum results, and best of all she pushes me to my limit. She is very personable, polite, and has a great sense of humor. I look forward to continuing sessions with Jennifer and just wanted to let you know that I think she is exceptional.
Jen has been an amazing motivation, inspiration, and mentor. I have all my life struggled with my weight and bad habits but in 2004 I felt I had enough that was when I met Jen after joining my gym.
Gyms for obese persons, like the one I was, are one of the most intimidating places; we feel we don’t belong, we feel completely out of place.
Jen gave me my very first lift weight training (the first in my entire life) and thanks to her great attitude, warm smile and encouragement I went back and back and one day suddenly the gym wasn’t so intimidating, suddenly I was part of it.
Today I have lost 40 lbs. and I still have to lose some more pounds but with her nutritional and exercise guidance I am pretty confident I will be able to reach my desired weight soon and very important for me, in a healthy and balanced way.
I ride with some serious biker riders. They are great guys, but boy are they competitive and biking is a big deal. When I started training with Jenn, I told her my goal was simply to start acquiting myself honorably with this group on some of the big climbs we did. I never expected to hang with them to the top, but if I could manage just once not to get dropped and lose sight of them, I would be happy.
Fast forward five months and we are riding up a newly paved road near Squaw Pass. As we start up the climb, one at a time our small group of riders pulls away from me. But I don’t lose sight of the tail end.
The road gets steep, then steeper as it switches back on itself. After five tough miles, I notice the last rider seems to be dropping back, and I assume he has some message to convey before pulling away again.
But as I near him, and pull up alongside, he only looks at me briefly and says “brutal climb” before turning back and concentrating on cranking his pedals.
Somehow, incredibly, I pass him, and then another guy as we get into the last mile. Although I never catch the leaders, I feel wonderful.
Not only am I not dropped, but I reach the peak 2 or 3 minutes ahead of the last two guys. It’s not spectacular, not a podium finish, and nothing to boast about, but for me it was everything.
I actually only met Jennifer in the last year when I started searching for someone who could work with me. I never really used personal trainers because I thought I could do things on my own and go from there. As I became a professional soccer player my thoughts changed quickly and my father told me to go to STAC in order to try working out with Jennifer. I came on the first day expecting to take it pretty easy and get used to things but that was not the case. Even though we just met and it was my first time, I felt comfortable and confident with the workouts we started doing even though it was in no way easy. Over the next few meetings I was pushed every single session and with that, I started feeling stronger and stronger. Where I might cut a set short when working out alone, Jennifer made sure to keep pushing me to finish every exercise. I really enjoyed the detail and the design of the workouts as they were different than most things I’ve done before. It was very centralized on building stability and strength from the lower body and core and then using that to be able to make more explosive movements. This unique approach allowed me to start noticing differences when I was on the soccer field. I just felt more stable and sturdy when going into tackles or taking off from sprints. I really wish I could have started working with Jennifer earlier in my career as I think that would have been able to boost my performance levels much sooner. Overall I had a fantastic experience in the time I worked with Jennifer and would recommend anyone trying to reach a higher level in athletics or simply get into much better shape. Jennifer is an unbelievable trainer and a great person to work with. I’m very thankful for my experience with her and am much better off now than before that first session.
